ORIGIN & VISION

Katie (Kay) Toye and her husband Robert Reine, founded the Ecōrejuva Institute to bring a biologically grounded, sensory-first perspective to design and wellness. Their work sees the human body as an organism continuously shaped by its environment, with the built environment as a root cause of regulation or long-term physiological stress.

Through professional certifications, training, and consulting, the institute invites professionals and individuals to learn how to shape spaces and practices that support the body's natural capacity for regulation, recovery, and vitality.

The institute serves as a primarily virtual learning community that provides professional certifications, training, and consulting in biologically aligned design for both physical spaces and wellness practices.

ABOUT KAY

Kay Toye's career has centered on assessing environments and their effects on human health. Her background includes over a decade of environmental compliance auditing, resilience planning, and community engagement for the federal government, including regular environmental audits for hospitals. She has also provided consulting and training for private healthcare facilities on disaster preparedness standards, and represented long-term care facilities in state and federal planning.

She holds a Master's degree in Emergency and Disaster Management and is currently completing a PhD in Functional Medicine, deepening her ability to connect environmental health, evolutionary biology, and human physiology.

Her perspective is enriched by time spent living, working, and studying in India, East Africa, and Japan, and by formal study in Yoga, Ayurveda, and Tibetan medicine. While the Ecōrejuva method is not based on any single tradition, these lived and learned experiences helped shape her understanding of how environment influences health and human experience.

Kay is also the owner of Luminecta Yoga & Wellness in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which serves as a sister space to the Institute.

ABOUT ROBERT

Robert brings a complementary scientific and public health perspective to the Institute's work. A microbiologist by training, he holds a Master's degree in Public Health and a Juris Doctor focused on Environmental Practice, with over 20 years of experience at the intersection of science, health, and policy. His career has been dedicated to understanding how environmental conditions influence public health outcomes and how thoughtful regulation can protect communities.
